Heck Yeah!!! You’re ENGAGED and what an exciting time it is!! If you’re like me, you’ve probably compiled millions of pins & Pinterest boards of your dream wedding and now you’re finally putting it to the test! For starters, it all begins at the engagement session and I want to share my MOST FAVORITE tips to rock your amazing engagement session! It’s also the time for you to ease your mind and have some fun with your beloved while your planning your extraordinary wedding day!
There’s a reason why I have this first. You’ll probably want to pick your dress first because you already know what you like and don’t like. This will also help you pick the right location that suits the theme you’re going for. Like for example, if you’re doing a beach session or somewhere awesome like in the mountains with the AMAZING views, you’ll probably want to pick something long and flowy to get those beautiful pictures. The color also matters so make sure the dress also compliments the location & the background.
This isn’t really thought of much but quite honestly, engagement bouquets are THE BEST!! Pictures are always bound to look amazing when there’s florals involved. You’ll really only have at least two opportunities of doing a bouquet and going all out – your wedding day & engagement session. The color contrasts can be quite appealing in pictures as well and just looks so beautiful! I’m going to add a few examples here :’)
It’s natural to feel tense & nervous and chances are, this will probably be your first official photoshoot so don’t worry!! Even if you think you’ll be super awkward in front of the camera, I promise you, you wont! Engagement sessions are all about having fun and enjoying the day with your fiancé! Your photographer will also play a huge part in how comfortable you will feel in front of the camera and will help direct you so pictures turn out to be a blast & beautiful of course. At the end, you’ll probably want to go through the entire experience again – trust me!
If you have a dog and want to bring them to the session for pictures, by all means YES! I love dogs, cats, goats, cows (I love cows you guys) hahah you name it all furry animals are cute and always make for very adorable pictures. Make sure to probably have someone there to help you with your pup as well for part of the session so he/she also has a fun time 🙂
I probably should have put this on the 2nd tip but regardless, locations are very important as well. Near, far, wherever they are…they can turn pictures to another level! If you’re getting married in Florida & want to shoot your engagement session in a mountain area, by all means take a small trip and ask your photographer if they travel, chances are they probably would love to travel to a different location to capture those incredible pictures!
Let me know in the comments below what other tips you’d like me to write more about! Happy Wedding Planning!!!
