Okay I have a huge confession to make so please bare with me. When I first started my business, I had no idea what I was doing AT ALL. All I knew was that I loved being a creative and I wanted to make a career out of it. When I started doing small sessions I realized, HEY this is something I can probably do everyday…how amazing would that be?!?! So I got my butt down to the bank and told the teller at the front I wanted to open a business and just needed to figure out what to do… anyhow I’m going to cut this short so I don’t drag on but I opened my business and walked out of there with a bunch of papers and folder that told me I was now a registered business owner.
I was like YAY hard part was finally done, now I can get back to shooting more sessions every weekend. Little did I know, there was so much more than I thought. I ended up trying to go through so many hurdles to figure out how I was going to make it all work if I wanted to be a successful business owner.
So….this brings me to a tool that actually changed the course of my life. A year or so ago I found out about the Rising Tide Society through a few photographers I loved and looked up to! They had not only build such an amazing community for all creatives but also started a great movement. Little did I know, they had created a tool called Honeybook that helped creatives not only connect but BE ORGANIZED!!
I know right….lol because I was shuffling through pdf contracts and sending them to my clients to print out, sign, and send me a copy back. I laugh at this now but I had no better system back in the day. I was doing what I thought was “efficient”. Not only does this website make everything effortless for you but you feel like everything in your life & business are in order from sending proposals to keeping track of client files, timelines, questionnaires and better yet connecting with the photography community directly…it’s pretty awesome if I may say so myself.
